Frequently Asked Questions

Does GSA only handle confidential replacements?
Discretion is always important to our clients. We specialize in handling any type of confidential replacement. However, quite often our clients have needs for other reasons. Whether it is a retirement, promotion, expansion, or a newly created position, all candidates identified would be contacted in confidence. We would not disclose your company name or discuss salary ranges. Ideally, we are looking for qualified candidates that have more than just monetary motivations.
With what type of companies do you work?
The majority of the clients we partner with are Heavy / Civil Contractors, General Contractors, and firms working in the A/E/P industries. The focus of the Heavy / Civil clients would include highway, bridge, marine, water / wastewater treatment, and excavation projects. Our General Contractor clients work in several market segments, including commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, institutional, high-end retail, and government. The A/E/P clients work in a variety of disciplines, including Civil / Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Environmental. If your particular need were in another area, we would be happy to discuss your options with our firm, or provide you with a referral.
Is GSA a "headhunting" firm?
GSA is primarily a client driven company. We use a systematic approach to identify and secure the best talent without advertising. We provide you with candidates who quite often are working for your local, direct competitors. When these types of candidates are approached in a confidential, professional manner, they are often willing to share their motivations. Would these candidates answer a want ad? Probably not, but when confidentiality is assured, true feelings can be shared.
What type of positions does GSA handle?
GSA handles a variety of positions. Generally, we work with mid to upper level management needs on a retained basis. We are always open to discuss any need with our client. Flexibility is an important asset in our company.
What if I have talked with all the local candidates?
If you feel as though you have talked with all the local candidates, we can consider relocation. However, we have found that relocations are the exception rather than the rule. Candidates with knowledge of the local markets are very beneficial. If needed, we would expand the search geographically, only as far as necessary.
